New Year’s Party Hats

Posted on: December 29, 2011

Making party hats is a great activity for children of all ages and a fun way to ring in the New Year.  Having a variety of materials available will make it even more exciting and allow the children to make their own creative hats.

Here’s one that my daughter and I did last year, while welcoming in 2011.

What you need:

– Hat template (we used this one from Nickjr.com)
– Different colored construction paper
– Glue / tape
– Embellishments (different shapes cut from construction paper, glitter, paint, crayons, markers, stickers, pom poms, ribbon
– Hole punch

Directions:

-Print the hat template from above, trace onto construction paper and cut out (older children can do this step themselves).
-Let the children decorate the hats however they choose.
– When the children have finished decorating, fold the hat and glue it together.
-Punch holes on each side of the bottom of the hat to attach the ribbon.  You can put a knot in the ribbon to attach or tape the ribbon to the inside.

Wear your hats and enjoy yourselves, while welcoming 2012!!

Happy New Year!!!
